AstraPouch began as a South African invention. As the leading producer of stand-up flexible packaging in the world, South Africa has been in the business of creating such innovative and efficient packaging for decades.
Flexible packaging became a requirement as the South African glass industry quickly became unreliable. They had to come up with other ways of packaging their food products. Film-based flexible packaging became the solution. Today, this type of packaging has become fashionable, as the world becomes more and more interested in low-carbon packaging. Because of their history with the product, South Africa is now at the forefront of expertise in the world of flexible packaging, understanding the important issues of food protection, ease of use and reliability.
AstraPouch was developed by a leading flexible package producer in South Africa. They saw the need for flexible packaging in the wine and spirits industry. A South African winery came up with packaging wine this way and history was made.
